Books I've read in April, 2015

Late again. Four books this time, barely. Don't you wish the background would change?

The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom
I honestly had mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, it's a highly entertaining plot (it's about Father Time finally free and trying to save two people who just need more time without actually realizing it), on the other hand, the lesson is thrown at your face. I never expected a book to be a long read even if it was a very short book. I don't think that it was my cup of tea or my interest, but it was a nice story. I know people who are fans of Albom, but I don't know if I'm going to be reading his other books even though they were recommended to me.

Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern
The tale of two best friends who are so in love with each other but fate ain't on their side. It's cute. It's cliched. The author wrote P.S. I Love You (I haven't read the book but I saw the movie and it was so adorable and sad), and I honestly needed to read this book. Not to mention that in the movie adaption, the two protagonists are played by Sam Claflin and Lily Collins. Don't judge me, I'm shallow like that. My only beef with this book was the way it was written; in a form of letters, e-mails, and phone calls. Other than that, it was an enjoyable read. Recommended if you want to pass time with a light book. I do recommend the movie if you want beautiful people to look at.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman
I read this in three days to avoid reading Catcher in the Rye (review coming next month!) and procrastinating my essay. I've been told that this book would make me cry and bawl at how sad it is. It is sad, but, Mia sometimes says stuff that completely ridiculous that if I was feeling sad, I wasn't anymore. It's a nice story, while sometimes annoying, but good to pass the time with. Towards the end I did cry. I'm not sure when I'll be reading the sequel, but I'll leave it for later.

The Secret Service by Mark Millar
First of all don't tell me comic books aren't books. Second of all, this is the thing Kingsman was adapted from. Kingsman. My favorite movie this year. I got it as a birthday gift from my best friend and imagine my joy. I have to say, it's quite boring compared to the movie, and I'm not saying that just because Colin Firth is in it. I think it could have used more action. The plot was slow and this is the first time an adaptation is actually better the the adapted-from (I am excluding Marvel movies).
